Quotes to Live By

[10.07.06] I’ve recently attended a seminar called “Personal Excellence and Organizational Success” by American success coach and co-author of the widely known Chicken Soup for the Soul, Jack Canfield. Here are some tidbits to boost anyone’s outlook:

(Dreams; Achievement)
“It doesn’t take any more effort to dream a big dream than it takes to dream a small dream.”
–General Wesley Clark, former NASA director.

“You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.”
–Jim Rohn

[09.11.06] I’ve read 50 pages of A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Pratchett and these are the quotes that have struck a strong nerve whilst reading. Some made me think, some made me smile and some I’ve come to love because I deeply felt it. Be forewarned, dear reader, I had placed some quotes under some twisted categories. But believe me, it still made sense. Here’s the first dish:

(Communication; Understanding)
She collected silence like other people collected string. But she had a way of saying nothing that said it all.”

(Determination; Discipline)
Nac Mac Feegle were always looking for a fight, in a cheerful sort of way, and when they had no one to fight they fought one another, and when he was all by himself he’d kick his own nose just to keep in practice.”

(Practicality; Appreciation)
If there’s one thing a Feegle likes more than a party, it’s a bigger party, and if there’s anything better than a bigger party, it’s a bigger party with someone else paying for the drink.”

(Multitasking; Reminiscence)
Her eyes had been watching the landscape while her brain stared at the past.”
