Mobile Pilipinas 2006: Wireless Possibilities; might Anne Curtis at ATC also be a possibility?

Mobile Philippines, the magazine formerly known as m|ph, (I love saying that!) is holding another great gadget tradeshow! Drool over the latest cellphones, laptops, accessories. Learn from the seminars! Go mingle with the stars!

Anne Curtis graced the first issue of the shrunk Mobile Philippines magazine

Random Fact: Mobile Pilipinas 2005 was considered as the official launch of Mobile, then known as m|ph. It was Sarah Meier who last graced the cover of the mag and she made an appearance at the event. If our magazine was considered as the largest tech mag ever then, I’ll bet you’d scratch off the thought if you’d seen how… gargantuan the tarp had been.

The next Mobile Pilipinas (2006), we had the four rockin’ ladies of the local music scene: Lougee of Mojofly, Aia of Imago, Hannah of Session Road, and Juris of MYMP. All but Juris arrived at the event to perform.

So… will Anne Curtis grace this year’s event? Hmm. Why don’t YOU find out for yourself? Hehe. Read on…

The annual gadget (lust) tradeshow is this coming October 13 to 15 2006 at the Alabang Town Center titled Mobile Pilipinas 2006: Wireless Possibilities! Join … continue reading this entry.

Champions!: UST wins UAAP Season 69 Finals basketball tournament vs Ateneo! Yay!

Quick post! (Edited)

Hear them roar!

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers finally ended the 10-year championship drought and won the UAAP Season 69 Basketball tournament, 74-76, against the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles at the deciding Game 3 match just this afternoon at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Loyola-based cagers dominated the first half of the game, until the Espana-based cagers finally managed to inch past the Eagles at 3rd quarter. The two teams tied at 64 at the last quarter and went into overtime. With around 12.5 seconds on the shot clock, Ateneo’s Chris Tiu committed a foul against the Tigers. Second stringer Dylan Ababou failed to nail the first attempt on the free throw line. His second attempt, however, finally gave the Tigers the lead, 75-74.

After JC Intal’s failed attempt to score for the Eagles, Eric Salamat fouled Jun Cortez at 3.7 seconds. Cortez buried the first shot and missed his second, giving the Tigers a two-point edge against the Eagles, 76-74. The Eagles grabbed the rebound but Jai Reyes’ attempt at a long shot missed the basket.

The Tigers were considered as underdogs of this year’s basketball season, carrying a not-so-sterling 7-6 card into the Finals. The Tigers created a huge upset during the elimination when they became the first team to halt the 8-0 winning streak of the Eagles.

Jojo Duncil of UST was given the UAAP Season 69 Finals MVP Award. He scored 8 out of his 18 points during the last three minutes in the overtime.

* Updates, corrections, comments would be very much welcome! I got the info from my dad who got to watch the game because I was in a seminar. Who scored the highest? What were the other highlights of the game? Another update would be posted after I watched the replay. 😀

* Go USTE! We, Thomasians, hoped; you guys delivered! Nice! You brought the glory of ’96 back to USTe in 2006 indeed! Congratulations to everyone on the team! Wish I was there to watch and cheer you on! ^^, You made us proud!

We won! Ateneo vs UST UAAP Finals – Game 2

Game 3 – Championship update here!

 —

A quick update:

I just got news that the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers finally grabbed a huge chunk off the Championship trophy! The UST Tigers won Game 2 of the 69th Season of the UAAP Basketball Finals, ending the match with a 87-71 score. Weeh! I am so happy!

Go USTe!!!

The Ateneo Blue Eagles won Game 1, 73-72, last September 23. The Tigers and Eagles are now tied with 1-1 card. Game 3 will surely be an interesting game.

Random Fact #1: This is the first time that ADMU and UST faced off in a UAAP Finals.

Random Fact #2: UST last won the title in 1996. Will it this year’s team bring the Glory of ’96 back to UST in 2006?

We, Thomasians, certainly hope so!

Full update next time! I’m just so happy that I had to post this! More info about Game 2 next time. Hahaha. See you in the Finals, guys! =)

I came, I saw, I met: Up dharma Down at Megamall (and other stories)

Intense is the only adjective that I could think of as I remember Up dharma Down (UdD) perform live last August 5 at Burn Magazine’s mall tour. The event was hosted by Burn Magazine’s Production Coordinator Denise Mallabo and Events Manager of Hinge Inquirer Publications, Juno Limjap.

Up dharma Down performs at Megamall for the BURN Mall Tour

It was the first time that I saw them on stage and it took a great ounce of effort not to squeal like a rabid fan girl during their performance. Especially when they played Pag-Agos, Oo, Maybe, and Lazy Daisy. If you haven’t heard any of their songs yet (segue: why???), you can listen to them online at Pure Volume. Let’s support Pinoy music and the Pinoy magazine that supports them! Therefore, buy BURN! Hehe. >:)

Up dharma Down later, then Markus and the Electric Fan Boy tomorrow!

Here’s a quick post! Ean, Armi, Paul and Carlos

I prayed that I would not be sick today, just so I could watch Up dharma Down at Megamall–an event by BURN Magazine, the music mag from Hinge Inquirer Publications. I had a slight fever yesterday and I woke up this morning still feeling a little off. But no, sick or not, I’m off to Megamall to finally hear them perform live. >:) I shall post the lryics of Pag-Agos, Maybe, and Oo soon.

Hmm. I finally found a name for this character who has been lingering on my mind since summer of last year: Markus. I’ve thought about this story when the office of the company I am working for was still in Cityland Herrera Tower. The walls of our office is painted bright orange. Yes, bright orange. I don’t think I’ve ever managed to nod my head off while working.

After I’ve posted Stella: Version 1.1, Markus’ character grunted at me and poked me with a walking stick, saying it was now his turn. So tomorrow, I’ll be posting another new story: Markus and the Electric Fan Boy

Electric Fan BoyPrologue preview: Markus is a newly-grad who just got hired at a publishing company as a graphic artist. He’s often silent, speaking only when needed. But when he has something to say–it was brutally honest that people veer away from his serious demeanor. But then he senses something odd about his workplace: he always felt watched–extremely watched–by none other than a vintage electric fan. Seriousness will be a far-fetched notion thereafter.
